Carlos Llave

GUITARIST - MULTI GENRE

Carlos Llave was born in Algericas, Andalucia which is regarded as the spiritual home of flamenco music. At a young age, he was enrolled at the local school for young creative talents. Displaying an extraordinary affinity for the guitar, Carlos began to study with Salvador Andrades and was schooled early on in the flamenco style of the legendary Paca de Lucia.

Simultaneously, he trained in jazz with Juan Gallardo and attended jazz seminars enthusiastically to further his knowledge and ability. On moving to Seville to pursue a scholarship programme bestowed by the Cristina Heeren Flamenco Foundation, Carlos began his flamenco career in earnest playing, true to tradition, in tablaos and on tours with many established flamenco singers and dancers. After graduating from the Cordoba Superior Conservatory with a first-class degree in Flamenco guitar studies, he went on to garner his Master's degree in Flamencology from the Escola de Musica de Catalunya. As an all-around musician, Carlos’ artistry stretches beyond the flamenco guitar and he is equally sought after for his prowess on the bass, the electric guitar, Cuban Tres and classical guitar. Beyond performing, he has also created and produced original flamenco shows and recordings, ‘A Palos’ being one which he tours with writer Antonio Manuel and singer Jose Mari Cala to great acclaim.

Carlos is currently engaged in recording ‘I just wanna fly’ which is a re-interpretation in his own inimitable neo-soul and jazz style of original works by his mentor Paco de Lucia. Carlos premiered his own show “Por Paco” at the Cordoba Guita Festival and he is a regular fixture on the prestigious flamenco circuit including the Flamenco Festival of the Cervantes Institute, the Paco de Lucia International Festival, the Cante Jondo Festival and many more. Carlos is also the chosen flamenco exponent on what will be a seminal album in honour of the late Cameron de la Isla which album will be recorded and produced on the Universal label by the latter’s close-knit family.
